November Media Consumption
Barbarian
The Barbarian, directed by Zach Cregger, is best horror movie of 2022 (besides The “X” trilogy and Nope (2022). It did a great job, setting up the film as if it was trying to make the audience guess who’s the villain was. I never knew the direction of where the film was going to go. Amazing! Amazing! The cinematography is insane…I love it.
Pride & Prejudice
(a rewatch)
It took me about fifteen “yearn watching” (that is when a person is yearning so bad that they watching something that will lead them to yearn even more), Pride &Prejudice to figure out that I’m asexual. Now I’m known to be a huge romance hater. I can’t stand reading or watching romance, it all seems fake to me- but if I’m being completely honest the only two forms of romance media I’ve ever liked are, Book Lovers by Emily Henry and Pride & Prejudice. What do two of these things have in common, you might ask…I really don’t know. The yearning? The hating one another at first then realizing they love each other? (Oh, I just made that connection. Its also the pining and yearning part I love about those two.)
Well I love Pride & Prejudice a lot. I am yearning mother fucker until the day I die. I will die yearning. The one thing I absolutely love about Pride & Prejudice, besides Matthew McFadyen playing Mr. Darcy, is the art of the touch in a love story. This is the most important-romantic things in a love story. Not the kissing, lust, or other things. It’s a touch baby! Mr. Darcy held Lizzy’s hand, and that was it. Yes, applause upon applause to stares and looks- but a touch is the most important factor of a love story. They even kiss one time throughout the entire film- and that was after they were already engaged. So, if we’re being completely honest here…the entire story is a love blossoming from only looks and touches. Don’t play this film near me unless you want to witness me violently sob while reciting the entire “field scene.”
Heartstopper
This entire franchise ruined my life. I’m so happy this exists- don’t get me wrong. (Oh god if I could go back in time to high school and tell my friend I was in love with her… I would. I will never experience a gay teenage love. The amount of yearning I did in high school is- just sad looking at it now.) I’ve been meaning to watch this season when it was first released, but I have a habit of not liking things in a healthy way. I took my time with starting Heartstopper. Now four rewatches later (buying and reading all the volumes) I’m able to praise this franchise. It’s very beautiful, what an amazing experience to see various representation (especially asexual representation). Fantastic! I cannot recommend this enough.
-As I’m writing this, season two just finished filming!
It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia
I’ve come to the conclusion that if I’d never watched It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia I would experience joy often. I hate that I love this series so much. Why? All of the characters are horrible people. Everyone of them is a disgusting mess you can’t look away from. (this is my 10th rewatch btw) It’s just insanely funny, the characters are the strangest people you’ll ever see, and every other episode someone’s bleeding- you know, classic entertainment. I’m also just here for MACDENNIS. Whatever…it’s good and I love it.
Fleabag
This month I finally finished reading Fleabag: The Play. (Here’s my review on it. FLEABAG: THE PLAY) Right after reading the play I searched for the recorded play to watch. It’s brilliant. I learned so much about the Fleabag as a character. The play was definitely much “darker” than the series. It shows the rawest parts of Fleabags thoughts, actions, and life. It’s not so much of a comedy than the series was. Watching Fleabag: The Play made me more emotional than the series has ever made me (during season one). All I can say is I love Fleabag & Phoebe Waller-Bridge! AMAZING!
