I Want You To Love Me

I discovered this album around the end of 2021. Endlessly looping Ladies ( it was my #6 this year) every time I wanted to yell in the shower. And I would only listen to that one song. I never played the whole album until the beginning of 2022. That’s when I fell in love with Fiona Apple. Discover more about her, her life, and how she become Fiona Apple. Her music is life changing. I Want You To Love Me, no doubt, saved me from a lot of “rotting in bed” days.

“…but I know a sound is still a sound around no one…”

Fiona Apple makes me feel like the most powerful women in the world. I know what I want or will do will won’t matter in the end- but that doesn’t mean it won’t feel good for a minute. Whenever I felt like absolute shit I played I Want you To Love Me (that’s why it was played 234 times this year).

Savior Complex

I love Phoebe Bridgers so much. I love her music. I honestly did not expect Savior Complex to be this high on my list. I think this only because I deistically remember screaming the lyrics to Moon Song everyday. Although Savior Complex has been my slow dancing song. The song you play when you’re having the last dance with you lover. Before you left their hand go one last time. A graze here and graze there. Then you’ll both walk away from another to never speak again. It’s no doubt a beautiful heartbreaking song. (I also think Savior Complex is this high, because I’m in love with Phoebe’s vocals)

My Tears Ricochet

This is my favorite song from Folklore. It’s hurts every time I listen to it. Could be another divorce song that I love, but for ME this song is about betrayal.

“and if I’m dead to you, why are you at the wake?

cursing my name, whishing I stayed…”

Absolutely insane lyrics, right? A beautiful song. Everything you've once built with the other person is being destroyed during the song. It’s a song that could be played while you throw things you’ve shared with the other person. It’s a very angry song. “ I hate you for leaving this, I hate you for taking me down when you knew wanted to be up” I LOVE IT.

Mother Nature’s Bitch

This might sound odd, but this is the perfect last song. do you know what I mean? If you don’t I won’t explain any further than that. Mother Nature’s Bitch is such a fun song to dance to. Mother Nature’s Bitch and So Hot You’re Hurting My Feelings were the only two somewhat “dancing songs” I played this year.

Moon Song

It’s very bad but sometimes when I get down about my own problems, and I don’t to think or deal with them all at, but since real-life relationships aren’t appealing to me…I fake them in my head. I listened to Moon Song quite a lot this year…so I might’ve through ten break ups this year alone. I love Moon Song so much. You don’t understand how much I love Phoebe; I think she’s a lyrical genius. Seriously…

“You are sick, and you’re married

and you might be dying,

but you’re holding me like water in your hands”

“You couldn’t have, you couldn’t have…”

I hate to say this, but this song makes me hate myself more. Loving someone so much that even their very “loud” flaws couldn’t make you hate them. He’s hurt her, but she still loved him. Even when she does think so leave him, she blinded by love. I love this song so much. There are better commentaries about this song, this is just my comments on it!
