Boygenius has been there (literally).

March 31st, 2023, The Record, a debut album by the very popular queer-girl-indie band, Boygenius—was released. To say that it’s the best collection of music of I’ve heard in my life is an understatement. I’ve never felt less alone in the world. The Record has a song for everyone, everything, and every single delusion running through your mind.

The beauty behind The Record is, that everything you ever felt towards yourself, your parents, or someone you love-but never could find the right words to say, has been written beautifully by Phoebe, Lucy, and Julien. A few months ago, while I was seriously lacking self-love and settled on being love-bombed by people I talked too. I found my boys again and their words to help me realized this was not what I truly deserved. They made me feel less alone. They knew about falling in love or realizing what love is not. The mentally and emotionally draining relationships you stick through. What a person says to another to manipulate others’ emotions—they knew it all! They had a song for everything single thing I would go through for the next six months. BOYGENIUS IS READING MY JOURNAL AND LIVING IN MY WALLS!!

WHAT?

SICK.

OH-

And of course this fucking song, Revolution 0, ruining my mental peace—while singleheartedly comforting the ache I’ve been feeling, as of lately.

To put it simply I fucking love Boygenius! I’ve never been this passionate about an album since I was eight years old and first listened to Adele’s album 21 (not joking). I’m making it public right now that, Revolution 0, will be my #1 most played song of the year.

(There’s more Boygenius to come! On October 13th the band is releasing an Ep called, “the rest.” This is definitely going to be their year.)
